Secondary

Our students start preparing for their GCSEs in year 10 and in some subjects they start in year 9.

These are the subjects that they study:

Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science (0984)

Computer science allows students to develop their logical thinking, to learn to solve problems using a computer.

Students studying this subject have the opportunity to apply the maths that they have learned throughout their academic years. They learn to test their solutions. They learn that a problem might have many different solutions.

The students at the CHB start preparing for their International GCSE Examination in Computer Science in year 9 and sit their exam in year 11.

In year 9 they learn the basic programming concepts and start coding in Python.

In year 10 students strengthen their coding and programming skills. They learn to solve more difficult problems through projects.

In year 11 students learn the theory behind computer science. How are your photos, audio files, documents stored in a computer? How do computers decrease the size of your files? What are the parts that form a computer? What are the security threats when using a computer system? How are your messages sent through the internet? What is Artificial Intelligence? What are its basic components? These and more questions can be answered by students studying computer science.
